An Inconvenient Truth

I just finished watching the 2006 award winning documentary by Al Gore, the presidential candidate in the 2000 US elections, named “An Inconvenient Truth” on global warming. It never occurred to me that this was as serious a problem until I realized the gravity of it, seeing it with my own eyes through this documentary. It really is an inconvenient truth. A truth that we choose not to care - as I have done all these years, just giving a half deaf ear to it – and I’m sure that most people are yet to realize that we are in the middle of a major climate change, a change that’s going to change our lives and the lives of our future generations, drastically.

It really amazes me how a convincing presentation, as this one is, can change the perception of a person to a great deal. Now, I’m not going to buy a hybrid car or a solar panel to my house just to go crazy about this whole idea and change my lifestyle overnight. But there’s a lot I can do in my individual capacity to make a change, even in the very infinitesimal manner. One of them being encouraging everyone who read this to watch this documentary. I downloaded this video from a torrent site and I suggest you do the same. Search for the words “An Inconvenient Truth” and you should be able to find it.

You’d probably seen so many documentaries and read so many articles on global warming over the years, but if nothing has still convinced you of the depth of this matter, I’d say this is the best documentary you would want to watch. It has convinced me so much of the risks we are facing at the moment, risks that are too scary even to dream of.

Watch the movie, not to enjoy, but to adapt.
